During the Holidays
« on: December 13, 2007, 02:55:19 PM »
We know the holiday season can be particularly hard when we think about loved ones who are no longer with us.  Part of the reason is that everywhere we turn, people seem to be in a festive mood are going to parties and celebrations. But we may not feel much like partying because we've lost a loved one. And it's not always easy to meet expectations of family and friends who are meaning to be helpful with their invitatons and suggestions that we not be alone. This time of year seems even more difficult if it's the first Thanksgiviing, Christmas, New Year's without someone special.  Our longing and sadness can be intense, understandably.  There are ways to cope.  I'm  willing to discuss them here and to learn from anyone who has had or is now going through the experience.
